Foreign trade development of lighting industry faces new tasks

Recently, The Ministry of Commerce issued the "14th five year plan for high-quality development of foreign trade" (hereinafter referred to as the "plan") and put forward the list of "three key points" of foreign trade. With the theme of promoting high-quality development of trade and the driving force of innovative development of trade, the Ministry of Commerce coordinated trade development and security, promoted high-level opening to the outside world, and accelerated the cultivation of new advantages in participating in international economic cooperation and competition During the 14th Five Year Plan period, China's high-quality development of foreign trade drew a "road map".

One of the highlights of the plan is that it weakens the quantitative indicators and emphasizes promoting the high-quality development of foreign trade driven by innovation. We will give prominence to deepening scientific and technological innovation, institutional innovation, business format and model innovation, and include new trends in international trade such as green trade, trade digitization and domestic and foreign trade integration in the top ten main tasks, so as to provide guidance for the innovative development of foreign trade.

The plan puts forward 10 key tasks and 6 safeguard measures, and defines the key areas of foreign trade development during the 14th Five Year Plan period. These measures and tasks not only promote the innovative development of foreign trade in China's lighting appliance industry in the new period, but also put forward new requirements for the high-quality development of foreign trade in the lighting industry.

The primary task proposed in the plan is to optimize the structure of goods trade, including six requirements: optimizing the layout of international market, optimizing the layout of domestic regions, optimizing business entities and optimizing trade modes. It is proposed to strengthen market segmentation research, continue to deepen trade cooperation with developed economies, actively expand trade with emerging markets such as Asia, Africa and Latin America, encourage enterprises to actively participate in domestic and international double cycles, improve the ability of enterprises to allocate resources in the two markets, promote the transformation and upgrading of small and medium-sized enterprises and take the international road of "specialization and innovation". Put forward the goal of giving full play to the innovative leading role of leading enterprises in technology and business format, guiding enterprises to orderly participate in international cooperation, and cultivating about 500 first batch of trade double circulation enterprises nationwide.

During the 13th Five Year Plan period, the development growth rate of the lighting appliance industry slowed down significantly. The sales growth rate of the industry gradually decreased from 8-20% during the 12th Five Year Plan period to 3-5% during the 13th Five Year Plan period. The average annual growth rate of the export volume of the whole industry was lower than expected. Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020, influenced by many factors, the domestic lighting market has been in a doldrums, and the recovery is slow.

At present, there is no trade double cycle representative enterprise in the whole industry that is competitive in both domestic and foreign trade markets. The lighting industry should actively focus on the plan, accelerate the adjustment of the structure of the global lighting market, coordinate the comprehensive layout of the domestic and foreign lighting markets, take scientific and technological innovation as the guide, continue to follow the road of "specialization and innovation", and further improve the global market share, especially the share of high-end lighting products, on the basis of consolidating the dominant position of Chinese lighting products in the global market, Effectively promote the high-quality development of foreign trade in the lighting industry during the 14th Five Year Plan period.
