Tips for Buying LED Light Strips

The light strips cost electricity or not, depending on the structure of the light strips.One typeis a regular light bulb and is connected in series,It is inexpensive which is only a few dollars per meter, but very power-hungry. Another type is LED light strip.If one of the bulbs is broken,the whole light still keep on working.It is very power saving but expensive.

Tips for buying light strips:
1. Look at the solder joints. The LED light strips produced by regular LED light strips are produced by SMT patch process, solder paste and reflow soldering process. Therefore, the solder joints on the LED strip are relatively smooth, and the amount of solder is small. The solder joints are arc-shaped and extend from the FPC pads to the LED electrodes. However, the amount of solder in the solder joints of the copycat LED light strips is uneven, and most of them are dots covering the solder feet.

2. Look at the quality of FPC. FPC is divided into two types: copper-clad and rolled copper. The copper foil of the copper-clad plate is protruding, and it can be seen from the connection between the pad and the FPC. The rolled copper is closely integrated with the FPC, and can be bent arbitrarily without the phenomenon of pad falling off. If the copper-clad plate is bent too much, the pads will fall off, and if the temperature is too high during maintenance, the pads will also fall off.

3. Look at the cleanliness of the surface of the LED strip. If the LED light strip produced by the SMT process is used, the cleanliness of the surface is very good, and no impurities and stains can be seen. However, if the fake LED light strip produced by hand soldering process is used, no matter how the surface is cleaned, there will remain stains and traces of cleaning, and at the same time, there will be flux and tin slag residues on the surface of the FPC.

4. Look at the packaging. Regular LED light strips will be packaged in anti-static reels, usually 5 meters or 10 meters, and then sealed with anti-static and moisture-proof packaging bags. The copycat version of the LED light strip uses a recycled reel for cost savings. There is no anti-static or moisture-proof packaging bag. If you look at the reel carefully, you can see that there are traces and scratches left when the label is removed. Bring it to repair.
